What the years taught him
Since going out on his own in 2013, Michael says, he has learned “what to do and more importantly what not to do” for SEO and LLM visibility.
The second half of that is the part a business owner pays for. Before the hospital years ended he had already been through the jobs where a mistake reaches a person: the first help desk, the security office for three hospitals, the systems that matched one patient’s records across several of them.
One of the lessons is about tools. He built WordPress sites for years, and he no longer does: “we used to be big on WordPress, but we no longer recommend it.”

Hillwood High School, Nashville
After Sylvan Park Elementary, Head Middle, W.A. Bass and Pearl-Cohn. He was an auto mechanic in high school and in a school-to-work program his senior year.

Copier and fax repair in client offices, where he picked up networking, while in school at Nashville Tech.
Ascension Health, IT department
Built the department’s help desk from nothing and answered it himself for over a year before moving to desktop support.

Applications Analyst II
Owned Patient Link Up Enterprise (PLUE), Cerner security and Forms On Demand. Two of his projects were firsts: a medical record number shared by the community’s hospitals, and an arm band for patients printed with a 3D barcode. He also kept The Heart Group’s intranet and public site running.
Websites on the side
Nights and weekends, he designed and hosted sites for paying clients the entire time.
His own business, full time
Left healthcare IT to build and host websites full time. That practice is now Nashville’s Web Design and its parent company, Zorva Labs.

Besides this company and Zorva Labs, Michael co-owns National Closet Company and Blair Custom Interiors and owns Elopements Inc. On top of those he keeps 51 trade sites going across Middle Tennessee, and the directory that lists local pros.
