RESULTS / REAL NUMBERS

One account, both sets of numbers.

Most agency case studies show the good quarter and leave out the one before it. This one includes the figures from the approach that failed, because without them the rest is just a number with no shape.

CASE / ELOPEMENTS INC · GOOGLE ADS

The restructure that cost eight dollars a click.

Elopements Inc runs elopement and small-wedding packages in Tennessee. Its Google Ads account had been running consolidated campaigns on broad match for a long time. In March 2026 it was restructured on conventional advice: split by city, phrase and exact match, tighter targeting. It is what most accounts are told to do.

After the restructure

  • $8.00 average cost per click
  • 0 conversions
  • 90% impression share lost to budget

Per-city campaigns with phrase and exact match. Every campaign started with no Quality Score history, and the budget was split so thinly that none of them could hold a position.

The consolidated account it replaced

  • $1.00–1.30 average cost per click
  • 80+ conversions per month
  • Broad match, one campaign

Terms like "elopement packages" and "wedding chapel", left broad and left alone long enough for Google to learn who converted.

What actually happened

Splitting a working account into per-city campaigns threw away the thing that made it work. Quality Score is earned per campaign and per keyword; a new campaign starts from nothing no matter how well its predecessor performed. Phrase and exact match then cut off the long tail the algorithm had been converting on, and dividing one budget across a dozen campaigns meant none of them could sustain impression share.

The cost per click went up roughly six-fold and conversions went to zero. Reverting to the consolidated structure restored both.

What we take from it

Small local accounts are usually over-segmented, not under-segmented. The instinct to control everything — separate campaigns per city, exact match only, tight negatives — starves the algorithm of the data it needs and fragments a budget that was never large enough to fragment. We now recommend consolidated broad match on accounts this size, and we can point at what happens when we do not.

Where this does and does not transfer

The structural lesson transfers to any small paid account, including a contractor's. The keywords, the sales cycle and the seasonality do not — an elopement is booked months ahead, a burst pipe is booked in ten minutes. We would not present this as evidence of what we will do for your trade, only of how we think about an account.

THE OTHER EVIDENCE

Forty-eight sites you can inspect right now.

The strongest thing we can show you is not a case study at all. We run a site for each trade across Middle Tennessee — each on its own domain, each built and ranked the way we would build yours. Open any of them and check the page speed, the structured data, the city pages and the copy. It is the same work, running in public.

FAQ / ANSWERS

Common questions about results

Why is there only one case study?

Because we will not pad this page. One account with real figures, including the numbers from the approach that failed, is worth more than six vague summaries. More will go here as campaigns mature and clients agree to be named.

Is a wedding venue relevant to my trade business?

Partly. The Google Ads lesson transfers directly — over-segmenting a small account destroys the history the algorithm needs, whatever the industry. The specific keywords and the sales cycle do not transfer, and we would not pretend otherwise.

Can you show me results for a contractor in my trade?

Not yet in public, and we will not invent them. What we can show you is the forty-eight trade sites we run ourselves, which you can inspect page by page — that is the build and the SEO you would be buying, running in the open rather than described in a deck.

What do you measure success on?

Booked work, not rankings. Rankings are the mechanism; calls and forms are the outcome. Every client gets a live dashboard showing traffic and enquiries rather than a monthly PDF of position numbers.

NEXT STEP

Find out if your market is still open.

We cap how many businesses we take on in any one trade and market, and it does not take many to fill one. The first call is a straight answer on whether yours still has room, who currently ranks for the work you want, and what it would take to change that.
